What is CQI?

Channel Quality Indicator (CQI) is a measurement reported by UE to eNB indicating the quality of the downlink channel. It helps the network select optimal modulation and coding scheme (MCS).

SINR Importance

Signal-to-Interference-plus-Noise Ratio (SINR) directly affects throughput and reliability. Higher SINR enables higher order modulation (64QAM) and better spectral efficiency.

3GPP Reference

This mapping follows 3GPP TS 36.213 Table 7.2.3-1 for CQI to MCS mapping. Values are used for link adaptation in LTE networks.
